8/20/08 02:33 pm - Wacom Intuos <3

I can't believe I  haven't made a post about my shiny new Wacom Intuos3 yet. :D I am here to change it ;)

So yes. I made it. I am the owner of a tablet. After years of "I want to get a tablet but don't know"-whining, my parents got the clue and decided to give me a tablet for my 18th birthday (which is actually in September, but they thought it'd be nice to have the summer vacation to test it, which is totally true). They are awesome, especially my dad who wouldn't let me convince him that I do - not - need the most expensive/ largest version. At least I could prevent him from buying the newest Wacom, worth 2000€. :D

I love it. It feels so much better, drawing with it, and Photoshop does no longer annoy me that much, using it. Big thanks.

I haven't drawn too much with it yet, though - I have to admit I'm a bit intimidated. But I mean to change that, and did three sketches/loose paintings yesterday and today. <3

8/8/08 10:28 pm - eyecancer?!

Was very creative today. I did a few anatomy sketches, all old fashioned with a pen on paper and all, lots of random doodling, and this crappy ... potrait? sketch?

There's something about her I like. And a lot I dislike. I wish I wasn't such a quitter and would finally return to the paintings on my harddrive that wait to be finished instead of getting lost in pointless doodles.
:/

But else I'm happy with what I've done today. :)

I fulfilled the mighty deed of portraying... a strawberry. Amazing, eh?

time: 25 minutes, done in photoshop.

LOL

(Yes it's summertime and I got nothing better to do)

7/13/08 03:21 pm - Bouguereau

Boringness... =D I can't really be bothered to do more than quick portraits and color tests at the moment... so here's yet another one of them. Half OC, half photoshop (and I loathe Photoshop at the moment D: )

This is a concept I've probably been wanting to draw since I was... umm... 7? I always had a fancy for nice death scenes!

Umm okay. Don't count her fingers - let's all pretend she's got 5 on each hand, yes? I hate how the smallview makes it looks ... bluh. D: And it won't open in Photoshop because the file is too large, so I can only use Open Canvas for it D:

Oh, and tell me if I shall put it behind a cut, if it streches your layouts! :D

6/16/08 05:47 pm - she's got some royal blood, they say!

With my social life going to hell, I find a lot of time for drawing! Okay, it is not that bad, just bad enough to be annoying.

So here's a sketch I did in Open Canvas, supposed to portray Queen Elizabeth I. My mum was even able to tell it's her! 8D Hooray!

The first version I worked on about 20 minutes, and the second one I don't know how much longer, but probably something between one and three hours, on and off.  It's not "perfect" but I decided to ignore the errors. D:

.... et voilà

to view them in a larger scale, cliiiiick. :D )

6/12/08 01:20 pm - you got a strange thing on your head...

Time for another update, eh. I've been drawing a lot lately, but I was too busy/lazy to post anyhting here... but now some doodles and concepts which I made while studying for the last Latin exam I'll ever take. yay. (though I begin to miss it already, I'm such a geek)

Just some pencil sketches. I love pencils, they certainly are my most favourite tool for drawing. =)
And I posted a finished piece at my DevArt account a while ago. I guess most of you have already seen it (or not^^ ). www.fainelloth.deviantart.com

Oh, and here's a pic of my desk. D: not exactly tidy, yes.

First, some headpiece/hairstyle concept sketches. They were both done rather quickly and are very messy, but I did mention before that I love messy?

The rest is under the cut... Take a look if you want to! =) )

4/25/08 09:43 pm

some more doodles... to proof that I'm planning on indeed taking this serious! 8D

First, a quick landscape done in Open Canvas, mainly to test the program and work with colours.
I realized I prefer working in OC (for sketching and colour blocking) to PS. A shame it doesn't have brushes and layers (at least the crappy free version I use xD )
(time : about 25 minutes)

And an old wip (well I lost my interest in it after a while)... I quite like some parts of it, but right now I can't be bothered to finish it - mainly because I so don't have any ideas for composition. D:   (and the colors are awful D: )

Photobucket

done in Adobe Photoshop CS . Any suggestions...? lol

And I did some pencil sketches. Hands, and some fantasy monsters, and some fantasy whatsoever. I'm too lazy to scan or take a photo of it right now. maybe tomorrow.

4/22/08 02:59 pm - it. lives.

Now being the proud owner of an... art... blog... I think I ought to post something. To make a nice start, at least. To make a good expression.

First some colour test I did in Open Canvas and Adobe Photoshop. I quite like OC for sketching but I just can't figure out how to blend the colours! D= any ideas/help?

(and I quite like the colour scheme. am going to use it once... and the anatomy of fish is more difficult to get right than it appears!)

And some pencil sketches, done when I was supposed to study for my exams. but heh. Used myself as a reference, and two of them I actually like... (especially the one at the right top)

(close up)

Some quick waterhouse inspired sketch... was again trying to procrastinate. I like the folds, though it's pretty messy.

That's it for now =) hope you like them.

Welcome to my ... art blog?  rubbish bin?

I'm doing this mostly for myself, to keep track of... what I'm doing, but I'm pretty much thankful for helpful comments and critique (well you know what I mean ...

I won't post real "art" here, just random sketches, colour tests, anatomy studies, in order to push myself to do more of them, and to keep track of improvement (or if there's any at all D= ) and check where I need to work even harder. And maybe I'll post some WIPS de temps en temps, to force myself to finish them.

Sounds like a good plan? I hope so! D:
